Dear Parent/Carer
PLANNED INDUSTRIAL ACTION
I am writing to provide an update with regards to the upcoming planned industrial action. Renfrewshire council wrote to all parents last week to inform them of the need for the majority of schools to close during these days, Johnstone High School being one of them.
During the period of industrial action, the school will be closed to pupils and staff on the following dates:
Tuesday 26th September
Wednesday 27th September
Thursday 28th September
Please note that the school enquiries line (email) and switchboard will not be manned during the period of industrial action.
Since being notified of this action we have been putting measures in place to support pupils with their learning whilst at home. Pupils will be assigned work which reflects the subjects taken during these days and teachers will be available for enquiries. Where appropriate, work will be marked and feedback given in the usual manner. Please be aware that teachers may have multiple enquiries from pupils during the day and will reply as soon as possible.
Work will be issued through a variety of platforms including MS Teams and Satchel One.
Pastoral teams will also be available should pupils need additional support and can be contacted through email or Satchel One/MS Teams.
Finally please note that West College Scotland are still running all school-college partnership courses and although we are of the understanding that the contracted taxis will still report to the (closed) school building, we would encourage pupils to make their own arrangements using their free bus travel cards.
We will keep you informed of the outcome of the trade union negotiations as soon as a decision has been made.
Thank you for your ongoing support of the school,
Yours sincerely,
Lynne Hollywood
